Motul USA: Cypress, Calif. (Sep 23, 2021) – Motul, the French oil company founded in 1853, will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its flagship 300V racing oil at the 2021 Acura Grand Prix in Long Beach, putting its new Formula 300V to the test on the track with partners like Forrest Wang in the Formula D Super Drift Challenge, Lyfe Motorsports in the Global Time Attack competition and Pfaff Motorsports in the IMSA SportsCar Grand Prix of Long Beach. Available to consumers in the United States this fall, the new 300V builds on Motul’s legendary ESTER Core® technology and is available in a wide range of viscosities with increased engine protection, reliability and power.
“300V is Motul’s most advanced racing oil,” said Nolan Browning, Motul USA brand manager. “We have worked hard to make the new 300V even better, using technical data from Motul sponsored racing teams to develop a product worthy of the historic 300V name. The new 300V delivers quantifiable, dynamo-proven power gains while improving the reliability and protection that the 300V is famous for. We are delighted to return to the Long Beach Acura Grand Prix as the official sponsor of the US premiere of the new 300V on track.
To accompany the American preview of the new 300V, Motul collaborated with Acura on a digital livery for the all-new NSX Type S. Red and white graphics inspired by Motul heritage take inspiration from historic Motul racing cars, while a set of HRE Vintage FMR 527M 2-Piece Wheels brings a motorsport style to this limited-edition supercar. These exclusive renderings are available for digital download on the Motul Drum.
Marked by a 50% improvement in shear stability, the new 300 V range ensures maximum oil film strength and constant oil viscosity, reducing wear on vital engine components like pistons, bearings and connecting rods during periods of extreme use. The new 300V’s high detergent level also improves engine cleanliness while increased resistance to oxidation and heat extends oil life. Maximum polar adhesion of the oil film provides dynamo proven power gains and reduces friction between engine components for better engine response as well as consistent oil pressure and lubrication. Low volatility and oil evaporation keep oil consumption to a minimum under extreme operating conditions.
The new 300V is available in an extended range of oil weights for increased compatibility. Motul designed the new low viscosity 300V POWER series (0W-8 to 5W-30) for maximum power and torque, optimizing the formula for engines subjected to low fuel dilution. The new 300V COMPETITION medium viscosity series (0W-40 to 15W-50) balances power and reliability and is formulated for engines subjected to low fuel dilution. Optimized for extreme racing conditions, the new 300V LE MANS high viscosity series (10W-60 to 20W-60), the only oil to bear the prestigious Le Mans name, offers maximum engine reliability with quantifiable benefits in terms of performance and is designed specifically for the intensity of endurance racing.
Motul has also improved the ecological impact of the new 300V formulas by integrating synthetic organic bases into the new formulas. These basic stocks are composed of renewable non-fossil materials, reducing Motul’s carbon footprint while respecting its performance commitment.
For 50 years, the 300V has been Motul’s flagship oil line, recognized by racing teams around the world for its tried and tested composition. Available this fall, the new 300V looks to the future of motorsport while offering improved formulations for historic and modern-classic racing cars. Motul’s sponsorship agreement with the Long Beach Acura Grand Prix will further contribute to the development of advanced lubricants and automotive care products like the new 300V.
