Wexford Quay played host to some of the country’s finest vintage, classic and modified cars last weekend for an event to raise money for an organization that helps young children get to hospital. Organized by DB Dailys, a car enthusiast club based in Wexford, the family day brought the wider motorsport community to benefit Bumbleance, a service that provides safe and comfortable transport to Ireland’s youngest patients.

Exford Motor Club showed off their Fiesta rally car, YRI Motorsport had their American-inspired hot-rod on hand and Sam Bennett showed off his off-road crawler buggy. The show ended with trophies given out to all Irish businesses that had helped promote and raise awareness of the Bumbleance itself. The show car was a beautiful lady Nissan 240 Z, followed by a Toyota Twincam. Other winners included a VW MK1 golf, a Nissan skyline R32 and a VW caddy.

“The day provided a laid back atmosphere enjoyed by young and old with huge footfall on the quayside with something for all to enjoy,” said Ian Dunne, CEO of DB Dailys. “The day brought together many communities, from classic car enthusiasts mingling with more modified cars. The kids enjoyed jumping in and out of the track car and rally cars of Irish American-inspired legends while collecting vital funds and raising awareness of the Bumbleance.

“The day’s Bumbleance was front and center and showcased everything that makes it such a vital part of the Irish healthcare system. With the kind-hearted staff, represented by Shay their driver, and the calm and friendly atmosphere indoors and outdoors providing a happy and safe place for children to make their journey to and from medical facilities.

DB Daily has been running events across the county to raise money for charities since its inception in 2016. In the past it has donated money to the RNLI, Pieta House and Johnstown Castle. This year, in addition to his work with the Bumbleance, he launched a series called Fueled that takes place across Lake Talbot and a nature walk to raise money for both.
